16 New Year's Resolutions for 2016
Hello, my feisty fellows!!!
2016 starts tomorrow... TOMORROW. I cannot believe it. It feels just like yesterday that everyone was thinking the world was going to end in 2012.
Anyhow, today I wanted to talk about my New Years Resolutions for 2016. Now, I'm sure there are some of you thinking that they never work and that I'll most likely break my hopes for 2016 within a few days. Everything I am going to be writing about today are GOALS. Some of them are not even realistic.
I personally feel like it is really important to make yourself aware of what you want for yourself so you can set out and change your lifestyle for the better. With that in mind, I'm not going to give up on these after one mess up or one mistake. I am going to keep trying. I want these to be resolutions for every day of 2016... not just the first few months.
Alrighty, now that that is out of the way... HERE WE GO:
Yes... I'm going to try and do it. Becoming vegetarian has always been something I've wanted to do but didn't have the will power or courage to do it. However, after research and learning more and more about other sources of protein and nutrients, I'm ready for the challenge. If you are vegetarian and have tips, please feel free to get in touch with me, because I'm going to need all the help I can get!
2) Get at least 6 hours of sleep a night
Not a super realistic goal seeing that I rarely get more than 4 hours of sleep each night. However, I'm going to put in even more extra effort to make this happen. I don't want my response to "How are you?" to be "I'm tired" anymore.
3) Spend less time on my phone
One day, I downloaded the app Moments, which is an app that tracks how long you use your phone and how many times you pick it up. Well, turns out I used my phone for 6 HOURS one day. SIX HOURS. That is NOT okay.... that's not going to happen again (hopefully).
4) Try new music!
I WANT NEW JAMS. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
5) Delete my procrastination habits
I've had them for too long. I've wasted too much valuable time. If I do this, it will help me have peace of mind and MORE sleep.
6) Be less carefree with my money.
I want to start keeping weekly/monthly budgets for different things in my life like coffee. Also, I need to be a little more aware of how much money I am spending on myself AND on others.
7) Read more!
I used to read ALL THE TIME for fun, and I loved it. I know there are so many great books out there. SO, I'm making it a goal to read at least 1 book a month (outside of college classes).
8) Start a more structured eating schedule.
I really should each 3 meals a day around the same time. As of now, I am constantly changing when I eat and how much I eat. I feel like I would be more stable if I allow my body to get used to a food schedule.
9) Expand my fashion sense.
After living through some strict dress codes, I'm ready to let my freak fly. I want to rock some new clothes! So, I want to donate what I don't wear and find new affordable clothes. (I really try to never buy something that's not on sale)
10) Put more time into my blog.
I LOVE working on this website and I've put a lot of time into it.. but ... I WANT TO PUT MORE TIME. I'm hoping to create tons of posts with different ideas and concepts. I'm excited to see where this blog is headed ;)
11) Walk away from any petty drama.
12) Do one special thing each day that makes me happy.
I feel like this concept will make every day worth while! :)
13) Become more politically educated.
With the election coming up this year, I really need to step up my game and learn more about who I want to vote for. Politics has always scared me, but I want to make sure my vote is true and valid in the fall, so I need to read up and educate myself.
14) DRINK MORE WATER.
I drink too much sweet tea, SO I'm going to try my best to drink water as much as I can all day, and then reward myself with one glass of sweet tea a day. This will be tough, but I need to do it for my own good.
15) Be more active!
Now, I'm not going to kid myself... I won't work out every day. However, I'm planning to get a FitBit and start to monitor how much physical activity I'm getting. I'm hoping the FitBit will motivate me to go to gym AT LEAST once a week if not twice.
16) Keep trying new things!
In 2015, I was able to try so many amazing things for the first time! In 2016, I'm hoping to do the same!!
I hope those make sense. I'm positive I'm not going to be able to do them all, but I'm really hoping to do at least half of them. Wish me luck :)
