What Inspires You?
I hope you all are having a great week. I returned from my <24 hour trip to NYC feeling refreshed and excited for life. Seriously, that city blows my mind every time I get a chance to explore.
Because I've realized how much that city inspires me, it made me start thinking about my sources of inspiration. I've been asked before, "How do you come up with things to write about?" and "What gives you so much energy and motivation?" Those are great questions because I wouldn't be able to do anything I do without inspiration from several different sources.
Here are just 5 of those things:
This is something I've recently discovered - physically being surround by all kinds of different people and cultures inspire me. The tall buildings, the millions of people, the food, the sounds, ALL of it.
I've only been to NYC twice, but both times, I leave feeling refreshed and inspired to do something. I love the idea that there are so many people that have worked so hard to live in the city and are working to do what they love. I want to do that.
New York City is calling my name. I know it. In my heart, I feel it. I have to live there. I will be studying there in the fall, and I've never been more excited about something in my life.
People following their PASSIONS.
I love passionate people. People that have a goal and will work really hard to reach it.. The funny thing about that is it isn't just limited to those that have similar interest with me. I love seeing people passionate about anything. Sports, vegan food, dance, drag queens (as pictured), YOU NAME IT! If someone is working hard and doing what they love, I want them to be successful. I want to cheer them on.
I have friends that are obsessed with sports and I have friends that love science. If that is what fuels your fire, GO FOR IT! I just love when people find what they love and keep up with it!
Of course, if their passion is going to harm other people in some way or if they will hurt people while taking opportunities, that doesn't usually inspire me. We should support each other in our personal journeys of finding with what we love.
I follow tons of fashion bloggers and I love seeing really unique fashion. Now personally, I'm not that fashionable. I want to be, but my wallet wouldn't be able to handle what I want to wear.
I love how fashion is a physical form of self-expression. Fashion is an opportunity to express emotion, creativity, and your own personal story. There should be very little rules. I love seeing people wearing all kinds of unique out of the ordinary stuff. When people wear clothing that defeats the gender norms of our society, that inspires me!
I definitely want to work on my own personal fashion and I'm hoping I can do that when I'm living in the Big Apple.
Traveling - ANYWHERE!
Every time I get on a plane, I get really excited. Yes, I'm that person that's staring out the window as the plane is taking off and landing. I love thinking about the idea of getting to go places, explore, and discover new stuff.
Traveling reminds the self that there is so much more out there than what is in your own life. There are so many people, so many food, so many cultures, so much EVERYTHING! Thinking about that inspires me to get there and explore. Ugh, I LOVE flying.
I've fortunately already been able to travel this year, and every time I do, it makes me want to travel more.
Really beautiful music.
Fun fact about me: If I really really love a song, it will make me cry.
I kid you not. If I'm listening to a really catchy dance song, a really beautiful musical theater song, or even a really song, it will make me tear up (My current fave is the La La Land soundtrack).
I don't really know how to explain it. When I hear something that I love so much, it inspires to make something I love.
Music has always had a special place with my heart used to perform music in acapella and different musicals, and performing always made me happy. Again, music is a form of self-expression where you can tell a story and let out your emotions. I try my best not to take music for granted!
